Interactive Story-Driven Games
Now at the Atomic Lounge, we are hosting games of DREAD.
DREAD is the immersive, roleplaying game of horror and hope. We are obviously huge fans of the horror genre here at the Lounge, and are featuring multiple sessions of DREAD every
week. It has a very simple rules system that can be learned in minutes, so come out and play! The spots available are first come, first serve.
Give us a call at (559)-218-8511 to schedule a session of DREAD.
If you are unfamiliar with the game check out the description under the drop down titled, "DREAD"
The President’s Briefcase - a Portable Escape Room Challenge
This is a unique escape room adventure, created right here at Method of Escape. Hackers have taken over the “nuclear football” briefcase, which enables the President to remotely control the countries nuclear arsenal. You and your team have 30 minutes to revoke the hacker's access, reestablish communications, and regain control of the nuclear missiles to avoid starting WWIII!
DREAD is a thrilling game of horror and hope. Those who play will participate in a mutual telling of an original macabre tale.
The goal of DREAD is to sustain the delicate atmosphere that invokes the hand-quivering emotion, which lends its name to the game. The thrill of the game DREAD lies within the tension between desire and loss.
You will step into the shoes of someone caught in a story as gripping as it is unforgiving—forced to make choices you’d never want to face in real life.
Before the game of DREAD can begin, players are required to create their characters, which must endure the plots thickening while their personal brand of horror story unfolds.
This character creation is done through a questionnaire that's generated by the player hosting the game. Each questionnaire acts like the skeleton of a character. Players then, flesh out the individual they want to play, with their answers. This allows the host to influence the characters to fit the story, while still being shaped by the players’ preferences.
As the game starts, the host depicts the first scene of the horror tale that everyone is about to participate in. As the host provides details of the storyline, the other players interject with questions about the setting and give explanations of what their characters are doing.
When a character attempts a task beyond their capabilities, it’s time to turn to the Tower–a stack of blocks, much like the Jenga game. The tower is placed within reach of everyone at the table, and determines whether the daunting task is a success or failure. To succeed, players must choose to pull a block, or otherwise they choose to fail the task by not pulling.
If at any time in the game, the tower falls on accident, the character of the player responsible is removed from the game, never to return. Their fate is chosen by the host, and their exit might be death, insanity, cowardice, imprisonment, possession, or something else, as the story dictates.
Players prone to martyrdom can mollify this by deliberately knocking over the tower. When intentionally knocking the tower down, the player gets to decide if their character makes a heroic or dramatic departure, which ultimately consumes the character.
The game of DREAD comes to an end once the story concludes, or when all of the characters have paid their farewell to the story.
